THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Allegations of irregularities in postal voting has popped up, right after the bogus voting in some booths at Kasaragod was confirmed. A section of employees alleges that some leaders take the postal ballot to the returning officer, and they used to open the ballot to ensure the votes. If the votes are found to be a different candidate than the one they prefer, these leaders will make the votes void. There is also criticism that employees are afraid to speak up as they fear transfer and other actions.
Govt employees on election duty cast their votes through postal votes and for policemen, this is service votes. Service votes follow a similar procedure to postal votes. Employees can get a postal ballot from respective district collectorate. Two covers and form for attesting are provided along. After voting and attesting the documents, the voter can drop their postal votes at the offices of district collectors.
