The Election Commission’s clarification that bogus voting happened in Kasargod is a big blow to people who tried to justify bogus voting in Kasargod Lok Sabha.
Bogus voting is something that destroys the credibility, respectability and moral righteousness of general election.
This has been a crooked means being employed bypolitical party ever since election procedures started in India.
However, the anomaly and scam in voting procedures have come down due to many a step taken to make election free and fair.
Political parties sometimes resort to ‘deviated’ path to increase the voting percentage. If this exceeds limit, it will affect the reputation of the political party.
Despite stringent measures being taken by the election commission to prevent bogus voting, they are overcome by perpetrators of this crime. This points fingers at loopholes that still exists in election process.
To ensure the sanctity of election, irregularities like bogus voting should be totally prevented. Certain political parties resort to unethical means since they think that they can easily get away with minor charges and punishment.
In order to pre-empt bogus voting, related laws will have to be strengthened.
The cases filed against bogus voting in Kannur and Kasargod should reach courts without fail. It should also be ensured that the culprits are properly punished.
If ideal punishments are given, bogus voting will be stopped in future elections. In this world with technological edge, bogus voting can easily be caught.
The irony is that political parties that constantly question the credibility of voting machines have been resorting to crooked methods without any qualm.
