attires

KOZHIKODE: Muslim organisations launched an attack against the decision of the MES College banning face covering attires in public places. A directive has been issued asking teachers and students coming under Muslim Educational Society (MES) not to wear face covering attires. Muslim organisations including Samstha came forward against it and said that it was against our faith and their stand cannot be accepted.

MES president Dr P K Dr Fazal Gafoor released the circular banning face-covering attires in MES colleges from next academic year onwards. The circular has pointed that the new law is based on the verdict of the Kerala High Court. The circular says that dresses unacceptable to the general public cannot be accepted in the name of modernity or even in the name of rituals. The circular has directed that from the academic year of 2019-20, it should be implemented and included as law in the next year’s college calendar.

However, Samastha responded saying that such directives cannot be accepted and the decision is un-Islamic. Meantime, Gafoor is of the stand that they don’t need the permission of Samastha to implement their decisions.
