THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a police council meeting, a decision has been taken to change police caps from the common P-caps to beret caps, which is now used by top officials. Police organizations expressed the difficulty in using the P-caps as it is difficult to handle on the field. It is also said to be difficult to wear in hot climate.
Officers from the Civil Police Officer rank to CI will be able to wear these. Those above C.I. rank will be wearing blue caps, while the officers below it will wear black. However, the old P-caps are mandatory in passing out parades, VIP visits, and other official events. The order on this will be issued soon.
