MANANTHAVADY: Woman died after being diagnosed with Congo fever. Bindu (28) sought treatment at the district hospital for severe fever and was transferred to Kozhikode Medical College for expert treatment, but died at the facility by night. Of the 24 fever cases in and around Changamoola Colony, six has been confirmed as Congo fever. Health activists are making regular visits to residences to make people aware of the disease. District Medical Officer Dr. R. Renuka has advised people to be alert.

Last year, 43 people in the state were affected with Congo fever, of which one died. So far this year, 51 cases have been reported and 2 people met with death. Doxycycline is being distributed at affected places, informed DMO.
