THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kalluvathukkal spurious liquor tragedy was an incident that had shocked Kerala. The police had found out that the liquor that was distributed from the godown of Abkari Manichan was the reason for the tragedy.

In the incident the court had sentenced 13 persons to life and they included first accused Hayarunisa aka Thata, Manichan and his two brothers.

Thata died in 2009.

Now the former DGP has come out with the opinion that he didn’t think that Manichan had any role in the Kalluvathikkal spurious liquor tragedy. In an interview given to Kaumudy channel, Senkumar says that in his book Ente Police Jeevitham, he had written about it.

Senkumar says: I don’t think that Manichan had distributed spurious liquor but the court found evidence and punished him… that is a different thing. The law will have to be obeyed but from what I have gathered, I don’t believe that it was Manichan who distributed liquor.
