THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a lightning raid at Ponmudi Wireless Repeater Station, which is a top security region, Telecommunications SP H. Manjunath suspended five for holding a liquor party inside the station. The gathering was headed by two sub-inspectors, of which one was the station in-charge. Five including two village officers have been suspended by the SP, who caught them red handed.
The instance was at 4 p.m. Repeater Station In-Charge and Police Officers’ Association Thiruvananthapuram Rural Telecommunication District Committee treasurer I.R. Reji and Telecommunications SI in Ernakulam, Anil Kumar were the organizers of the party.
The station that only strictly allows authorized personnel served as a party ground for Thiruvallam Village Officer Manoj, Chemmaruthy Village Officer Jojo Sathyadas, Pattambi Co-Operative Society Manager Ibnu Sharafath and two businessmen- Pattambi natives Nazar and Unnikrishnan. All five were arrested by Ponmudi police on the direction from SP, who were then granted station bail.
The Wireless Station is situated above the upper sanatorium, the highest place in Ponmudi. Wireless messages are boosted and broadcasted from here.
