PERUNNA: Again, Nair Service Society has come out against lavish weddings in the community. NSS general Sukumaran Nair has written an article in this regard on the NSS mouthpiece ‘Service’.
NSS clarifies that it is necessary for the wellness of society to avoid unnecessary luxury in weddings.
“Though there have been some changes in the attitude of people, the costly ceremonies are continuing for events like house warming, wedding, festival, post-death ceremonies.
In the age of nuclear families, the society will have to cut unnecessary expenses, in order to attain self-sufficiency.
Due to lavish marriages, many families fall into debt traps and financial crisis. False pride is the reason for all this. Each father and mother should have the will power to spend for weddings according to their financial capacity and not to satisfy their ego,” says Nair in the article.
He further gives certain guidelines on how to do away with unnecessary or lavish marriage expenses.
