KALPPATTA: Venturing out of the woods into areas of human presence, a wild elephant gave birth to her baby. During the delivery, 11 tuskers surrounded the female elephant. Some turned towards people for getting too close.

It was on the morning of Saturday that some locals noticed the presence of wild elephants.

The elephants' return journey will be a tough challenge as they have to cross a tea plantation that is steep. According to forest officers, the elephant might stay here till the baby elephant is able to walk. The forest department is camping here to avoid people from getting close.
