THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC is bringing on a reform to cut down on ordinary service, which was a relief for students and commoners. They are planning to get rid of ordinary service in the name of scheduling and discarding services that incur losses. Now students who make use of concession will face a certain crisis. The concession is not available in higher class buses.

Ordinary services will be taken down step by step. This was first implemented at East Fort Depot in Thiruvananthapuram, which was further implemented in other depots in the district. The RTC plans to spread this across the state. The passengers are facing a hard time with the reforms of KSRTC. With the new reform, this will be doubled. There are 3503 buses that run ordinary services. After the cut down of services, this has come down to 2000. As the second phase of this, the operation head ordered to run fast passenger services at only two districts, and services in other districts are instructed to be super-fast. However, as Depot Heads opposed this move, this move was stopped.

KSRTC has turned towards profit forgetting about social responsibility due to ever-increasing debts. The govt isn’t doing anything to help the RTC. This has forced the corporation to new reforms.
