KAYAMKULAM: 500 kilograms of gold and Rs 1, 25,000 were robbed from the residence of Maharashtra native gold merchant. The victim Santhosh Powar (39) is a tenant at his present residence.

Two bangles of eight grams each, a 50 grams necklace, 25 small bangles, chains, ring, earrings, locket, a 14 gram Bombay chain and some other jewelry were burgled. Santhosh Powar and family went to their relative’s house in Cherthala on the 4th of May. On return, they saw that the front door was broken into and valuables were stolen. Police suspect someone familiar with the house behind the theft. The police have initiated a probe on the incident.
