THRISSUR: Thrissur collector T V Anupama Thursday issued strict instructions related to the parade of elephants during Thrissur Pooram. As part of Pooram, traffic restrictions have been imposed in places coming under Thrissur Corporation. Helicopter, Helicam, Laser Gun, tube balloons covering your vision have been completely banned on top and grounds of Vadakkkumnathan Temple on May 13 and 14. Elephants scared of deafening fireworks and ear-piercing loudspeakers should not be allowed to enter the city on Pooram days.

A ban has been imposed on elephants in musth stages and have swelling, from entering Thrissur town on May 11, 12, 13 and 14. Only mahouts should handle the elephants. Police officials, devaswom volunteers and more than 100 officers should be entrusted here.

Anupama said the ban on Thechikottu Ramachandran has not been lifted. A decision on the ban will be taken after the court pronounces the verdict tomorrow. Devaswom minister will hold talks with leaders of Elephant Owners Federation to avoid the crisis seen for days related to Pooram. Talks will be held at the minister’s office at 4 pm today. Ministers of agriculture and forest departments are likely to attend the meet.
