THIRUVANNATHAPURAM: Former State Public Information Officer of CAPEX (Kerala State Cashew Workers Apex Industrial Co-operative Society) K Krishna Kumar has been fined Rs 10, 000 for failing to give prompt reply to an application filed as per Right To Information Act.
The order levying the fine was issued by State Information Commissioner Dr K L Vivekandan on Thursday. The fine will have to be paid within 30 days.
Social activist Mulavana Rajendran, on September 2013, had filed an application, seeking information regarding CAPEX and copies of minutes of the meeting. But he was no given the reply.
Later the activist gave a complaint in this regard to Managing Director but no action was taken. Last year the Commission had issued a temporary order stating that the failure to give a reply within a limited time is a punishable act and action should be taken against this flaw.
