THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP Loknath Behera has initiated a probe on the illegal postal ballot voting of police officials. IG S. Sreejith will be in charge of the investigation. The DGP has directed the Crime Branch Chief T. K. Vinod Kumar to fasten the proceedings. Departmental action will be taken against police officers involved in the scam. Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena had suggested the DGP to take action against 5 policemen involved in the incident. The case will be registered against Vaishak, a commando at Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple. An investigation will be done against police officers at IR battalion – Arun Mohan, Ratheesh, Rajesh Kumar and Manikkuttan.

Commando Vaishak had served in the security detail of the CM Pinarayi Vijayan and former minister Thomas Chandy. It has been found that the ballots were collected on the direction of a Police Association leader, who is a close relative of Vaishak.
