THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government got legal advice that Thechikottukavu Ramachandran can be paraded on the previous day (Poora Vilambara Divasam) of Thrissur Pooram. The Pooram Celebratory Committee have been asked to take a decision today or tomorrow.
Legal advice obtained was that the people should be kept at a fixed distance. Precautionary measures should be taken to avoid accidents. The elephant should not be harassed or disturbed. This precedent should not be followed for other festivals.
The Kerala High Court had refused to intervene on the plea filed seeking permission to parade Thechikottukavu Ramachandran for Thrissur Pooram. The court was of the stand that let the appropriate power centres examine it.
The court wanted the monitoring panel led by Thrissur collector to take a decision. With this, the government sought legal advice on the ban.
