THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: By seizing gold weighing 25 kilograms, it has become the biggest gold hunt in the state surpassing the 20 kilos seized in 2014 at Kochi.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had earlier seized 5.75 kilos of gold from 8 people who tried to smuggle with the help of ground handling staff. The staff was also under close watch. Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram natives Sunilkumar (45) and friend Serina (42) were caught with gold weighing over 25 kilograms.

DRI is conducting a detailed probe to find out the source, destination, and mediators of the gold. It has been learned that a Dubai centered mafia is behind this.

As the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport becomes the center of gold smuggling, it will create further headaches for the officials.
