He fainted amid the chembada melam at Paramekkavu temple. He kept his chenda down and fainted back. His son and those around him supported him. His close aides Kelath Aravindakshan and Peruvanam Satheesan Marar took him forward.

He was taken to the hospital and the nurse there gave him water in a cup. After drinking that he asked isn’t this ORS-I have two-three with me. I had severe fever till yesterday. I am just tired and that’s all. He soon got into the car of Minister V S Sunil Kumar and came straight to complete the Ilanjithara Melam.
