CHALISSERY: A Malayali was arrested on Friday for allegedly cheating his business partner in Gulf and making away with more than Rs 2 crore.
The Chalissery police have arrested Akilanam Chazhiyattiti Parakkal house Shihab for cheating his friend and business partner Marathamkodu Ibrahim out of the money. The accused has been charged for cheating. In this case, Shihab’s father is also another accused but he was spared arrest due to his poor health condition.
Shihab had taken UAE dirhams worth more than Rs 2 crore from Ibrahim in different instalments in the name of business purposes in Gulf. But even after many days, he didn’t return money.
After this, though some mediation talks were held, there also Ibrahim got cheated.
Shihab had agreed to register in Ibrahim’s name his father’s property. But, for this, he took Rs 12 lakh from Ibrahim to get back the mortgaged land documents and Rs 64000 for registering the property. A written deal was also made for this.
Though the registration date was fixed as May 10 during the mediation talk, Shihab cheated Ibrahim by not turning up at the sub-registrar office.
Following this Ibrahim complained to the police and arrested Shihab with the help of cyber cell.
