THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: People wearing burqa or veil will be checked at seven booths where re-polling is going to be held. Kasaragod district collector said that special women officers are assigned for this purpose. The election commission’s key decision came in the midst of a controversy surrounding CPI (M) district secretary M.V. Jayarajan’s comment to ban veil or burqa at polling booths.
The police have intensified the security at all places related to re-polling. There will be immediate action in the event of bogus voting, police sources said.
Re-polling will be held at Pamburuthi UP School booth in Kannur, booth 52, 53 in Kunnirikka UPS at Dharmadam, booth 69 and 70 at Puthiyangadi Jama-at High School in Kallyasseri and booth no. 48 at Thrikkarippoor Kooliyod GHS.
