KOLLAM: A Gujarat cashew nut business lobby reportedly has taken a crooked path to transport to Kerala containers of cashew kernels that were imported to Gujarat from Africa by evading import duty.
It is the Gujarat lobby that is functioning from Kollam under benami name that has transported more loads of cashew nuts to Kerala. The lobby is enjoying the monopoly of cashew nut in international market

As many as 17 containers of cashew nut were imported from Africa in the name of a cashew nut commission agent based at Kallumthazham. Hence the price of cashewnut processed in Kerala started going down to 1/4th the market price.

Soon after this small-time cashew nut businessmen started organising protests. It was in between this the benami commission agent spilled the beans. He turned an approver after the protesters called for boycotting his goods.
