Since the Exit poll predictions have come out, various political parties and people are waiting with bated breath to know the final result.
Almost all the Exit poll predictions have come out in favour of the NDA, and hence the party workers loyal to the NDA are in excitement. The general election was more or less fair and peaceful, thanks to the stern and stringent measures taken by the election commission. Nevertheless, there are many places like Bengal, Punjab and Kolkata
The general mood in Bengal is fear of possible violence soon after the vote-counting is over. People think that Trinamool men will come out and indulge in arson if the results are not favourable to them.
Now, coming to Kerala, the attack on Vadakara independent candidate and former CPM worker COT Nazeer shows the political violence still prevails in the State.
Everyone knows that there is no dearth in Malabar area for instances in which those leaving CPM turning victims of violence.
It would be better to take precautionary measures to curb possible post-election result violence. Those in political field should be able to show the equanimity to accept the results with sportsman spirit.
Party leaderships should take the responsibility to rein in party workers. Election result celebrations should not be allowed to worsen into arson or rioting.
This is also a time when police intelligence department should sharpen their senses. Kerala is a state that had become role model to other states in the name of political enlightenment. Throughout this election, the approaches of various political parties were the ones that helped the State to uphold that tradition.
This emulative and healthy approach should be sustained, even after the election results are announced.
