THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kummanam Rajashekaran said that he will not attend the swearing in ceremony of Narendra Modi Government. It was a triumphant victory for the BJP led by Modi. Still, I am not going to Delhi for the function. If I go everyone will say that I was offered a ministerial berth. So, I am not going. Though I was defeated, my service to the public will continue, he said. Politics is just a medium for it, he said.
Meantime, the party is examining his poll debacle. The party will visit booths and examine the votes the party got in the previous four polls. Though exit polls had predicted his win in Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, the UDF candidate won the polls and was a hat-trick win for him.
The BJP is now trying to assess what went wrong. Kummanam had earlier asserted that minority consolidation and cross voting had taken place. Only later one can know how the stands of NSS and SNDP affected the polls, he said.
