THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Everyone likes to hear music. Ramya Haridas is a Congress politician who has won the hearts of the people of not only Alathur but also the whole of Kerala.
However, Ramya, who has won the UDF seat from Alathur constituency, had drawn flak for singing songs during her campaign.
It was Kerala Varma College teacher and writer Deepa Nishanth who had come out first with criticism against Ramya.
Deepa had said that Lok Sabha election is a democratic process that elects persons who should be always alert on protection of citizens and making laws.
“What is of concern here is not the question how fairly does the candidate sing or dance or which is that person’s religion.
What is happening is not Idea Star Singer Contest or Temple Committee election. Those who seek votes should have at least this basic sense. This is a request,” Deepa Nishanth had remarked.
Many people had come to back as well oppose Deepa’s comment.
But Ramya has brushed aside those criticisms and continues to sing. She sang on Monday heeding to the request of media persons at Thiruvananthapuram Press Club. On request, she also boldly sang a Hindi song.
