THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State police is maintaining a high vigil on the back of an intelligence report that there is a presence of ISIS, the terror outfit, in the coastal areas of Kerala. As part of this, DGP Loknath Behera made discussion with top officials of the security agency. The meeting also evaluated the present security measures.
IG G. Lakshman has been assigned as security department coordinator in order to coordinate the works related to ISIS threat. The DGP also met with senior officers of the coast guard.
In light of the security warning, IGs, district police chiefs, coastal police and police stations near coasts have been directed to take necessary precautions. The police chief has also urged the co-operation of people residing in coastal areas.
