KOTTAYAM: Amidst the contest for leadership of Kerala Congress (M), Jose K. Mani group calls for urgent state meeting to elect the new chairman, which will in turn lead for more rift inside the party.
This new move is in light of the assembly speaker’s direction to elect a new parliamentary party leader before June 9.
A prominent leader of Jose K. Mani group said that the Speaker’s direction was helpful as the temporary chairman P.J. Joseph was reluctant in calling for a parliamentary party meeting or state committee. Meanwhile, the court is considering a case in relation to the chairman position of the party. After learning the court’s verdict, the date of the state committee will be fixed. On the other hand, Joseph group is of the stand that it’s a blatant violation of discipline to call a committee without the knowledge of the acting chairman P.J. Joseph.
Mons Joseph’s letter to the Speaker approving P.J. Joseph as the leader has irked Jose group and they are preparing to take action on this. Jose group alleges that P.J. Joseph is trying to reign supreme over the party by taking over the position of parliamentary party leader with the assistance of Mons Joseph. Even though having the support of majority support, Jose group finds themselves in a position of losing the leadership of the party. Understanding this, Jose group is prepping themselves to take on and eliminate the Joseph group.
