chunchu-nair

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the past several days, the social media had been trolling pet cat Chunchu Nair, whose obituary along with her photo and caste-based name had appeared on a newspaper. But as jibes have exceeded limits, the owner himself came out with a post against trolls, on Tuesday.

The owner says that they had loved Chunchu so immensely and she was like their third daughter. "Those who troll her and ridicule her will not understand what she meant to us. Chunchu was our daughter. We have two daughters and we brought her up as our third daughter, pampering and giving her lots of love. The death of such a cat had saddened us. She had been living with us for the past 18 years. It is natural for people to give ads to commemorate dear ones in their family on their death anniversaries. But what appeared on social media were trolls in the bad sense… We are not for reacting to low-grade trolls. Once we adopt a child, we suffix its name with sir name, caste name or the names of the new parents. Don’t we? The trolls talk volumes about Keralites’ approach towards animals. If this is their attitude to these poor beings, what will be their attitude towards humans?” says the family, which repeats that the trolls had pained them a lot.
