THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC working president and MP-elect K Sudhakaran has said that he would raise the Sabarimala issue during the Assembly by-elections that would happen in six Assembly constituencies within six months. Meanwhile, the BJP is mulling a shift in poll tactics as Sabarimala couldn’t help them win even a single seat in the Lok Sabha election.
The BJP’s district faction has already clarified that Sabarimala will not be a campaign subject in the Vattiyoorkavu Assembly constituency. Instead of that, developmental issues will be highlighted, according to district president Suresh Kumar.
Senior BJP leaders including O Rajagopal had opined that it was the UDF which reaped the benefit of the hard work done by the BJP in the case of Sabarimala row.
Meanwhile, K Sudhakaran said at a face-to-face programme at Kannur press club on Tuesday that campaign will centre on Sabarimala issue but the Congress will never resort to violence. He opined that the BJP’s claim that it will highlight only developmental issue was a bluff. “The BJP is still uncertain about their campaign theme. Both the BJP and CPM showed double-standards in Sabarimala issue,” he said.
.
However, from the beginning of Sabarimala women’s entry agitation, K Sudhakaran has been strongly opposing the breach of tradition. In the issue he directly got involved in the strike and he was not hesitant for that. Sabarimala agitation is also a reason behind Sudhakaran’s victory in Kannur constituency.
