Introspections and open-hearted discussions are going on in Opposition parties in the name of disastrous drubbing they received in the Lok Sabha election. And in the case of the Congress, the most affected party in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the leaders are groping in the dark. While Rahul Gandhi is strongly determined to resign as party chief, the senior leaders are trying to coax him to remain in the post.
Though the Congress working committee that met on Saturday didn’t go into the nitty gritty of the reasons for the failure, Rahul Gandhi lashed out at some Congress leaders, who indulged in dynasty politics. He told to their face that they were only interested in the winning prospects of their sons. He even named Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Ghelott, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath and P Chidambaram’s son. Among them, Ghelott’s son was defeated. Among the new MPs, the richest one with Rs 640 crore assets is Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath.
It is also not known whether Rahul, by resinging, wanted to turn a model for chief ministers in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, which had gone through massive defeats.
Across the country there are many leaders who have held top posts for four to five decades and made financial gains. When they grew old they managed to make their wards the inheritors of their assets and advantages.
Even law shuddered in front of these persons who in due course of their career grew all-powerful.
Unfortunately, even among the new MPs there are persons who are accused in several criminal cases including rape, murder and money fraud.
What exists in front of people today is the most riduculous faces of dynasty politics. But it should be remembered that people will not accept this on all times.
