KOTTAYAM: A letter was given to the election commission claiming P J Joseph as the Kerala Congress (M) chairman. The letter was given by Joy Abraham, secretary in charge of the organisation of K C (M). The letter was given at a time when the Mani faction was also set to select the chairman after convening the state committee.
By giving the letter, the Joseph faction is aiming to get the upper hand of the party before the convention of the state committee. It is interesting to note that the letter was given by Joy Abraham from the Mani group.
Joy Abraham had earlier released a circular in support of Joseph. The circular mentioned that on the absence of the chairman, that post will reach the working chairman.
Meantime, the Joseph group did not get a clear majority in the party’s parliamentary party and state committee. Mani group came ahead in the parliamentary party.
As per the constitution of the party, like MLAs MPs are also part of the parliamentary party. So Jose K Mani MP and designated MP Thomas Chazhikadan, MLAs N Jayaraj and Roshy Augustine are with Mani Group. Mons Joseph is with P J Joseph group. C F Thomas, a close aide of Mani has not announced his clear stand on the issue.
