THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One more person has been arrested in the gold smuggling case. The DRI arrested Prakash Thampy, a native of Edappazhinji, for smuggling gold via Thiruvananthapuram airport. A probe has found that he stood as a mediator in smuggling 25 kilograms of gold worth Rs 8 crore from abroad.

Thampy had visited Dubai many times. The team smuggled gold using women. The gold they smuggled will be handed over to Prakash at the airport. The gold was later given to a native of Malappuram.

Prakash was absconding soon after the DRI strengthened probe to nab the smugglers.

Prakash was the programme manager of Balabhaskar, noted violinist killed in an accident.
