THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gone are the days when one has to visit the taluk supply office several times for ration cards. For new ration cards, all you need is to visit the taluk supply office once, just once. This facility will be available for those who apply online or through Akshaya centers.

After applying online, the consumer will get a printout. On signing and uploading this paper, a date will be designated for the issue of ration card and this will be sent via SMS. On this date, the print out should be taken to the taluk supply office and the ration card will be issued. This system will be implemented from June 1 onwards.

The card will be issued in the name of the eldest women member of the family. In the absence of a woman, men can apply as well.

The applicant should carry a photo, Aadhar card of family members and documents with address proof.
