When late Kanaran-Kalyani couple’s son Babu talked after four decades, it was both shocking and surprising for the locals of Tholeri, Aroor in Vadakara.

Babu, who had been a studious child, suddenly lost his ability to speak when he was in fourth standard. Despite treating him using all available options, his ability to talk could not be restored.

He had studied in Aroor Kannamkulam L P School. After the incident, he also stopped his studies and remained confined to his house for the past forty years.

But now, he has regained his ability to speak at the age of 52.

It happened the other day evening when Babu was about to step out of his home. His brother casually asked where he was going. Babu, who had talked using gestures till then, suddenly blurted out: ‘Going to Chethin’. This simply stunned the entire family. Soon the family members crowded around him and started asking him several questions, to which Babu gave clear answers.

Being overwhelmed by this miraculous turn of events, the family members took him to Kunnummal health centre and consulted doctor Sindhu. But, she could not find the reason for this medical surprise.
