THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The investigation team has got the information that gold smuggling through Thiruvananthapuram international airport was perpetrated by a mafia with international connections.
As the role of two former managers of the late violinist Balabhaskar in the gold smuggling has been established, the alleged mystery behind accident death of the violinist has also intensified.
Prakashan Thampi, who got arrested in the gold smuggling case, was Balabhaskar’s programme manager. Another accused Vishnu was the finance manager of the violinist.
In the light of the above developments, Balabhaskar’s father K C Unni has expressed doubts about their role in his son’s death. He told a Malayalam media that he would soon be giving a complaint to the investigation team, pointing out these facts.
On the other hand, Balabhaskar’s wife Lakshmi’s explanation is that they were not Balu’s manager and were just organisers for certain programmes.
Balabhaskar’s friends said that Vishnu was his friend from his very young age and he looked after the financial matters of Balabhaskar’s programmes. He used to travel abroad frequently. It was Prakashan Thampi who first reached the accident spot but after that he stayed away from Balu’s family.
Balabhaskar’s father had also linked his son’s death to a private Ayurveda hospital in Palakkad. “Its proprietor had close links with Prakashan Tampi and Vishnu. Just before the accident, Balabhaskar had received several calls, asking for his location,” the father had alleged.
The shocking car accident that killed Balabhaskar and his daughter Tejaswini took place on September 24 in Kochi. The high-end car carrying Balabhaskar, his daughter, wife and the driver had rammed a tree on the sideway.
