KOCHI: Ernakulam district collector has said there is no need for extending the date of reopening of schools on account of Nipah viral infection.
This comes following the evaluation that all Nipah-related circumstances are under control. In the high-level meeting held in Collectorate, it was noted that the administration had taken all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the disease and hence the situation was under control.
Education Minister C Raveendranath said the other day that schools in the State will reopen on Thursday itself. He also opined that there was no need to postpone the date in the wake of Nipah scare. Minister (from Thrissur) A C Moideen said there was nothing that prevented schools in Thrissur from beginning classes on Thursday.
Meanwhile, health minister K K Shailaja said there was improvement in the health condition of the youth who is under treatment in Kochi. No medicine for the disease is administered now. The chief minister has called for an evaluation meeting on Friday.
