THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister K K Shailaja will fly to Delhi on Thursday to discuss with Union Health Minister Harsha Vardhan preventive measures to be taken against Nipah virus infection.

In the meeting, Shailaja will inform Harsha Vardhan that Rs 3 crore sanctioned by the Union government for the setting up of Regional Virology lab in Kozhikode would not suffice and more fund would be needed.

The minister told the media that all efforts would be made to build the lab will all required facilities within two years.

Meanwhile, Harshavardhan said there is no such a circumstance in Kerala that warrants his immediate visit to the State and if such a situation arises, he would pay a visit to the State. Currently, the Central team in the State will study the source of Nipah and the circumstances causing the infection.
