KOZHIKODE: One person has been arrested in connection with the attack on Vadakara Lok Sabha independent candidate C O T Nazeer. The police arrested Thalassery native Viswas for trying to help the accused go underground.

Nazeer was hacked by a three-member gang on May 18 when he was going towards his house on his bike in the night.

His hands, head and stomach were injured in the attack. Nazeer had alleged that the regional leaders of the CPM had roles in the attack and demanded that the conspiracy behind the attack be brought to light.

But after that Kannur district secretary M V Jayarajan said that the party had no role in the attack.
