GURUVAYUR: Thrissur city police commissioner G H Yathish Chandra was in news during the protests staged related to women entry in Sabarimala. He had locked horns with many BJP leaders during protests staged in the name of it.

The state government had entrusted Yathish Chandra at Pampa and Nilakkal as part of security in Sabarimala during the mandala season. However, many BJP leaders had traded fire with him at the time of the protests staged. The officer blocked party leader K Surendran when he reached Sabarimala as part of agitations and misbehaved with Pon Radhakrishnan, the then union minister, when he came to offer prayers to Lord Ayyappa. BJP leader A N Radhakrishnan had warned to teach him a lesson. However the other day when BJP leaders K Surendran and A N Radhakrishnan reached Guruvayur to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they came face to face with the commissioner.

Yathish Chandra was given the charge of the security of Modi in Guruvayur. Surendran and Radhakrishnan came face to face with the officer in front of Sreevalsam Guest House just before the arrival of the prime minister. The leaders shook hands with the commissioner when they came before him.
