KOCHI: The district collector has clarified that 52 people who came in direct contact with the youth under treatment for Nipah doesn’t have any symptoms of the disease. The test results of the person entered into the isolation ward is also Nipah negative. All seven in isolation ward is now confirmed to be free of the deadly virus.
Five people were discharged from the isolation ward yesterday. The six remaining were confirmed to be Nipah negative, but are under observation. Another person who was entered into isolation ward yesterday was confirmed to be free of Nipah, which made all 12 under treatment in the isolation Nipah free.
Meanwhile, the health condition of the youth under treatment for Nipah has improved. The second phase sample test conducted at MCH’s temporary lab was sent to National Institute of Virology in Pune today and the results were received today. Of the three samples tested, 1 was positive and 2 were negative.
