NEW DELHI: The apartments in Maradu municipality need not be demolished now. The Supreme Court ordered to continue the present situation for six weeks. The apartments will not demolish till then. The residents of the apartments had sent a writ plea to the bench of Justice Arun Mishra, who had ordered demolition of the apartments, to reconsider the order.

The bench will consider the plea in the first week of July. The court will open in July after vacation. The court will then consider more details of the plea. "The builders did not inform us that the apartments are in the Coastal Regulation Zone and the panchayat has given sanction for it," the plea of the residents claimed.


The apex court had ordered demolition of five apartments in Maradu municipality for violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules on May 8. Those five apartments are Holiday Heritage, Holy Faith, Jain Housing, Kayaloram and Alfa Ventures.
