VALLIKUNNAM: The statement of the son of Soumya, a civil police officer who was set ablaze at Mavelikkara, has been revealed. Rishikesh, eldest son of the dead stated that Ajaz had continuously annoyed his mother.

12-year-old Rishikesh said that his mother had directed him to reveal the whole thing to police if anything happens to her. From the statement it is clear that she feared that she would either be attacked or killed.

A friendship between Soumya and Ajaz started during their training period in the police force in Thrissur. Police suspect that something has happened that has ruined their six-year friendship. More details can be obtained only after taking the Ajaz’ statement.

Soumya was set ablaze Saturday afternoon by Ajaz, a policeman after dousing petrol on her. The incident when she was on her way back home from work.

Soumya Pushpakaran, 31 was the wife of Sajeevan of Vallikunnam. Ajaz, a civil police officer at the Aluva traffic police station, suffered serious burns and has been admitted to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.
