KOCHI: The Kerala High Court imposed a stay on the report of the committee led by Dr M A Khader implementing single directorate for education sector in the state. The move comes on the petition filed by teachers and headmasters against the decision to make changes in the education sector after the formation of the state. The court has directed not to implement the proposal and to stop further proceeding for two months.
Opposition parties and teachers' organizations have come out against the report of amalgamating school, higher secondary and vocational higher secondary sections of the school with conflicts of interest among school authorities. However, the government who went forward with the proceedings brought class one to twelfth standard under one unit and formed the Directorate of General Education. Jeevan Babu was made the chief of it. A group of teachers and head masters approached the court alleging that government’s move was without enough discussions and consultations with the opposition.
