SEATTLE, USA: Indian origin American Vrinda Subhash wins bronze medal at 2019 IPF World Powerlifting Championship, Helsingborg/ Sweden.

Vrinda Subhash wins bronze medal for bench press in the 2019 IPF’s (International Powerlifting Federation) World Powerlifting Championship held in Helsingborg, Sweden in the sub junior category. She was placed 6th for her weight class, -57 sub junior women and was 1 of 8 athletes who qualified to compete from 52 sub junior women from across the world. 950 athletes from over 50 countries participated in the event.

Vrinda secured her chance to participate in world championships as a member of US National Sub Junior (under 18 year) Powerlifting team. Competing in the in the -57kg weight class, last year she secured the gold medal in the 2018 US National Powerlifting meet held in Spokane, Washington. She has been training for the last 3+ years, three to four days a week.

Vrinda is 15 years old and is a 9th grade student at Eastlake High School in Seattle, Washington. Born to immigrant Indian parents, she is coached by her father Shajan Dasan who hails from Trivandrum, Kerala who is a full time engineer at Twitter in Seattle. Vrinda’s mother Reshmi Subhash hails from Pandalam, Kerala. Vrinda lives in Sammamish, Seattle with her parents, the family occasionally visits Kerala.
