THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is appropriate that the central government itself introduces a bill in Parliament to curb women entry in Sabarimala, said Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran. The state government had earlier asked the central government to bring in a bill in the Parliament, he said.
None of the BJP leaders are seen now as their demand for it is almost over, Kadakampally said while reacting on Sabarimala private bill to be presented in the Lok Sabha. The BJP who attained a thumping majority should bring in a legislation on the issue. RSP leader N K Premachandran had given a notice in the Lok Sabha to introduce a bill against women entry in Sabarimala. The bill will be presented in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
The minister said the BJP was taking advantage of the devotees for political gain. There is no BJP leader to look into the affairs of Sabarimala to find out whether women are entering there or not, the minister told reporters sarcastically.
The minister said none of the BJP or RSS leaders are seen in Pampa, Nilakkal and Sannidhanam to see whether an 11-year-old, 51-year-old or 49-year-old are entering Sabarimala. It is a fact that it was their political interests that really sparked. He said the government has only the desire to protect the rule of law of the country and has no other interests.
Kadakampally said not just the BJP the Congress party is also not seen anywhere there. Their requirement is over after the parliamentary elections. There is no doubt that this bill will have the same experience as that of every private bill. N K Premachandran was a part of Sabarimala politics and he has nothing to lose. Kadakampally said that everyone knows the true policy of the BJP and that they have succeeded in dividing the people with communal poison, he said.
The minister kept mum when asked about the issue on Binoy Kodiyeri.
