THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI has finally decided to undertake the chief whip post in the legislative assembly. The CPI state executive committee has decided to appoint Ollur MLA K Rajan as the chief whip. The post comes with cabinet rank.

Following Jayarajan’s resignation, M M Mani was appointed as minister. CPM created an additional ministerial post and CPI was offered the chief whip post with the re-entry of Jayarajan. Chief whip post was allotted to CPI in this situation.

Post-floods, CPI had decided not to undertake chief whip post as it might create an additional expense. But after one year, this decision has been changed. With this CPI will have 6 cabinet posts including 4 ministers, deputy speaker, and chief whip.
