THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government said they will not allow DGP Jacob Thomas to take voluntary retirement scheme (VRS). The government has submitted a report on it to the union ministry of personnel. The report submitted has mentioned that they cannot permit an official under suspension to take VRS. Thomas had approached the state government seeking permission to take VRS.
Thomas approached the centre after the state government denied him permission to take VRS. Thomas gave a letter to the state government seeking permission to take VRS for contesting in the Lok Sabha polls. The government did not approve his application and not only that the government extended his suspension tenure also.
The report submitted to the centre had mentioned the flaws seen from his side. The report has explained the criticisms he showered on the government related to Ockhi cylone and during floods time. It has also mentioned his publication of service story without getting permission from the state government. All this has been pointed out in the report as serious violation.
The government suspended him following these incidents. The government also produced the investigating reports of vigilance, crime branch and DGP on the corruption in buying dredger while serving as the harbour director. By giving this report, the possibilities for his retirement Jacob seems to be closed.
