POONJAR: Kerala Janapaksham (Secular) led by Poonjar MLA P C George had to pay a heavy price for joining hands with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Leaders are leaving the party day by day. Kerala Janapaksham has lost its rule in all the three panchayats of the Poonjar constituency. The party got thinner after the elected members of the panchayat governing body started leaving. Prasad Thomas, who was Poonjar panchayat president, was the last to leave the party. Prasad, who won polls as an independent member, was working with Janapaksham. With this, Janapaksham have no governing party or governing role in the Poonjar assembly constituency. Three members, including vice chairman of Erattupetta Municipal Council, first left Janapaksham and then joined the UDF.

P C George had shared the dais along with NDA candidate K Surendran who contested from Pathanamthitta constituency in the Lok Sabha polls. George had publicly supported Surendran. In addition, he unitedly joined hands with O Rajagopal, the lone BJP MLA in the Assembly. He came close with the BJP during the protests staged in connection with women entry in Sabarimala. He was against permitting women to enter Sabarimala.
