THODUPUZHA: Sub inspector Sabu, the first accused in the Nedumkandam custodial death case, has been remanded to 14 days by Ettumanoor magistrate. He is presently undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College after he collapsed yesterday. The magistrate visited him in the hospital and recorded his statement.
The remand report of crime branch SP Sabu Mathew claimed there were 14 injuries and eight bruises on Rajkumar’s body at the time of his death. Rajkumar, who was taken into custody on June 12 was brutally tortured till June 15. The report had also mentioned that he was unable to stand and walk when his arrest was registered.
The injuries seen all over his body led to pneumonia. The crime branch has found that accused from one to fourth lead the brutality.
The doctors attending on Sabu said that he has no significant health problems. He will be soon shifted to general medicine department and more tests will be conducted. Only after that a decision will be taken on his discharged.
