KONNI: A middle-aged ex-military man landed in trouble after he manhandled cops at Konni police station, where he had gone to lodge a complaint on Thursday. The complaint was that some anonymous persons were throwing stones at his house.

In the incident, the police have arrested Vayakkara Thalathazham house resident Somasekharan (56). What provoked him was the indifferent attitude of the police including SI, who told him to stand apart from him when Somashekaran tried to give him the written complaint. Losing his patience, he manhandled SI Kiran. ASI Madhusoodanan, who dashed to them to prevent Somasekharan from beating the SI, also received some light blows from the retired soldier.

Soon after this, he ran outside but was overpowered by a few policemen; he was then whisked away into the lock-up. In the tussle two more policemen got beaten.

Meanwhile, Somasekharan’s relatives said last week also, he had approached the SI with the same complaint. But the police were not ready to probe the complaint. Disillusioned by their attitude, he brought the matter to the notice of district police chief. The SI who came to know about this was irked. When Chadrasekharan returned next time with the complaint, he talked angrily to him, which ended in fighting.
