THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP had won the last Lok Sabha election with a stunning victory, but the party could not win a single seat from Kerala. The party is now trying to woo Christian, Muslim expatriates and supporters in Kerala. The membership campaign programme ends on August 31st. The move is to include maximum number of expats in these categories.
V Muraleedharan holding the post of Minister of state for Foreign Affairs is seen as a favourable factor. A special team of BJP leaders will be going abroad. The party is also giving priority to membership of minority groups.
The minimum qualification for the party membership is to bring in at least 25 people to the party. Presently almost 15 lakh people have taken membership in the party. The party’s aim is to make it 30 lakh.
