IDUKKI: Idukki SP K B Venugopal, who is facing allegations over the custodial death of finance company owner Rajkumar at Nedumkandam, has been transferred to anti-terror squad. Malappuram SP T Narayanan will replace him as Idukki SP.

The action against SP Venugopal was initiated by DGP Loknath Behera after the Crime Branch handed over a fact-based report, seeking further inquiry into Rajkumar’s custodial death. The instruction for the transfer was sent by the DGP as soon as he got the report from Crime Branch IG Gopesh Agarwal.

Meanwhile, the government has declared a judicial inquiry into the death of Rajkumar. Justice Narayana Kurup is in charge of the investigation. He has said the probe will be started as soon he receives the government order in this regard.
